QUOTATION PHASE
Platinum's vast experience is applied the moment you request a quotation. The company's design engineers begin looking at the project’s feasibility as they confirm the moldability relative to the current part design supplied. Die draw is determined to allow for the best parting line conditions and fewest mechanisms possible.
Platinum's goal through this process is to reduce the customer’s initial tooling cost while minimizing the complexity of the tool, resulting in a better quality tool.
Additionally, this will minimize down time in your molding operation as well as reduce your PM costs in your tool maintenance department. Undercuts that require a secondary die draw action are identified at this time. Mechanism's are identified and specified as required to relieve all undercuts, which require a secondary die draw to allow the current part design to be moldable. Platinum also will identify and bring to your attention possible changes to the initial part design that will result in further savings in the development of your tool.
PART DESIGN PHASE FEASABILITY
Many of our existing customers are recognizing the added value of having the Platinum Tool design engineers working together with their part designers to supply input throughout the part design process. The tools’ complexity is therefore minimized, resulting in cost reduction's in tooling, mold maintenance and down time which increases the moulds maximum yield potential. Platinum's early involvement is based on a trusted relationship that has been developed over time between Platinum Tool and our valued Customers.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
Once Platinum receives an order, a program manager is assigned to the project. The program manager participates in all levels of design review with the customer to assure all design change requests are implemented. During the program as changes or issues surface, the program manager is your liaison to Platinum's manufacturing operation, communicating with all departments to address your requirements in a timely manner to insure your requirements are met. The program manager assesses the impact of the change through color overlays of the data and responds back to the customer regarding any feasibility issues and impact with regard to timing or costs of any change requirements. From there both parties can make a decision based on all information whether to proceed immediately, delay the change until after first shots and possibly never apply the change to the mould.
CUSTOMER STANDARDS
Many of Platinum's customers have developed a set of design standards that meet both manufacturing and maintenance requirements within their plant regarding internal processes and quality standards. Platinum has developed an internal set of standards which are used to produce a mould to meet or exceed the customer’s quality expectations while maintaining your projects budget.
DESIGN SOFTWARE
In 2005 Platinum Tool Technologies made a significant investment in new engineering software and training. More MOULD TRYOUTS
Platinum Tool performs mould tryouts locally on all moulds prior to shipment to your facility to ensure that the quality of the mould and parts that are produced meet and exceed your quality standards. Our Program Managers attend all mould tryouts to record the tryout results which provide a final assessment of the tool prior to shipping. Platinum Tool will also provide qualified mould makers and polishers at local tryouts and at your facilities for support as required. |
